What in the world can one person do for the Chamber?
My wife and I have been through quite a bit in the last 29 years. (how long we’ve been married) We’ve moved to cities far from home to pursue our careers. We’ve started a non-profit organization from scratch and transferred it over to new leadership, we’ve weathered personal storms in our family. We’ve moved three sons out of our house into the challenging world and are immensely proud of all three. Now, how do we find ways in our community to able to support others going through life’s challenges and help them come out of the fire, with less weight, but more value?
It was with this perspective I tentatively ventured out to the Green Bay Chamber of Commerce today. I did not know if one sole proprietor could be useful to those who make our city Great. It is indeed the business owners and executives that have others on their mind that dream up the jobs and venture their own money taking the risks to be able to make more money than their own family needs. It is only by taking on employees and trusting them to do what you’ve invested your dream toward, hoping for a return that will provide for both you and those workers.
As I met with “_____” today, she was so encouraging about the possibilities. As we sat int the third story conference room looking down over the roofs of the businesses of our great city, I could see her love for this city and her desire for others to succeed. This is something I have always resonated with. The only success I want out of life is to see those around me do better than they dreamed they could do. Thanks “W” for sharing visions today, I have high hopes to partner with people who have dreams bigger than themselves, and then help them discover a new level in themselves that is game to accomplish their dream.
just a tidbit from one of my coaches…
Henry Ford
said “if you think you can or you think you can’t,
you’re right’.
Try this on for size, anything that you choose to
be committed to, strive for perfection, shoot for
100% as a target, have a passion to be the best
you can be.
Aim for perfection knowing you will not attain
it. Don’t get stopped because you are not close to
your goal.
When I say perfection, I mean like a basketball
player who wants to score with every shot he or
she makes, yet understands that’s not possible.
He or she gets out there every day and practices
for hour upon hours. Their goal is perfection and
they know the reality.
Perfection isn’t possible but they practice
anyway. Are you willing to practice and shoot for
the moon?
Here is another thought! Hire a great Coach to be
your accountability partner.
Find a Coach that knows that it’s going to take
lots of hard work on your part to improve and
overcome the obstacles as you strive to get closer
to perfection.
As coaches we know that and we need someone to
encourage us to stay on task day in and day out.
We can’t let the thought of failure slow down our
process of continuous improvement.
All great athletes learn that having a Coach and
Mentor picks them up when they are down and helps
them to stay on the path towards their success. (from coach Gary)
